đ Staying Safe on the Smallholding
Weâre so pleased to have you here with us! Visiting a working smallholding is a real treat, and we want to make sure everyoneâpeople and animalsâstays safe and happy. Here are a few things to keep in mind during your visit:
𧟠A Quick Note on Hygiene
Please wash your hands well with soap and water after touching the animals or being in the pens.
Try to avoid eating or drinking in the animal areas, and definitely wash your hands before tucking into any snacks!
For little ones especially, itâs a good idea to wash clothes afterwardsâfarm visits can carry bacteria, even when everything looks squeaky clean.
Expectant mums: Please steer clear of young lambs or heavily pregnant ewes. Some bacteria around lambing time can (in rare cases) cause pregnancy complications, so it's best to be extra cautious.
đ´ Around the Animals
Our animals are friendly and used to visitors, but please donât chase, startle or feed them unless we say itâs okay.
Never give them food you have bought without you without checking with us first. Some treats that seem harmless to us can upset their tummies or even make them seriously ill.
Children should always be supervised, especially near the horses and sheep.
The ground can be a bit uneven or muddy in places, so sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots are best.
If youâre joining a tour or activity, please listen carefully to any instructionsâfarms are full of adventure, but they can be risky if you donât know what to watch out for.
đ§ General Bits & Bobs
Please stick to marked paths and stay away from farm equipment or fenced-off areas.
Leave gates just as you found themâopen or closed.
And if youâre not sure about something, donât hesitate to ask us. Weâre always happy to help.
Thanks for helping us look after the animals, the land, and each other. We hope you have a brilliant time!
